Chapter thirteen
Okay now I’m spooked because whoever is in that car was apparently following me and this time I don’t think it’s a coincidence. I pull into the garage and pull into my designated parking spot. I sit for a second to gather my thoughts and try to calm down. I retrieve my cell phone from my purse to dial Rockies’ number but I don’t get much service in the underground parking garage. I observe my surroundings before exiting my car, I open my door and close it, then open the passenger side door, pull the seat up to get the boys out the back seat who both were sleep and didn’t have a clue as to what just happened not that they would anyway…I have to remember they are dogs not humans, well they are like four legged humans to me. I grab their leashes and lead them out of the car, close the door and hit the alarm and we proceed to the elevator. As the elevator door opens I hit the main floor button. The door opens and the boys run out to greet Stanley. He smiles, kneels down and they run directly into his arms and licks him in the face. Stanley is happy to see them and plays with them while I collect my mail from the mailbox. Stanley stands and says, “Ms. Sydney I’m glad you stopped by I have flowers for you.” I smile at Stanley and tell him, “Oh you shouldn’t have.” He returns the smile and says, “I didn’t.” He tells me they were delivered about an hour ago and there was no card attached. A wide smile appears on my face and I instantly think that Phoenix was behind this. I ask Stanley if he noticed the black car with dark tented windows parked outside. He looks concerned but responds, “No.” I tell him okay and walk towards the elevator calling the boys behind me. As the elevator door opens, I step in and the boys follow right behind me. I make it in the apartment and get the boys settled. I gave them so fresh food and water and then I grabbed me a glass of wine. I plop down on the sofa and search for the remote to turn the TV on. I click the switch and surf the channels until I find a Criminal Minds marathon. I retrieve me cell phone again from my purse to call Rocky. He answers on the second ring and I can still hear an irritation in his voice. I tell him about the events of this mysterious black car with the dark tinted windows. By the time I finish running it all down to him from the night in the club parking lot, to the hotel entrance, to today’s event, he is really pissed off because I was just now telling him about the situation. His voice has raised an octave as he is yelling now. “Why the hell didn’t you
